Our weekday is already underway, maybe at fever pitch too? Here’s a quick realization I had this morning. I hope it adds value to your day and week too.
This morning started off ordinarily enough. I was drinking coffee and preparing mentally for the busy day ahead when I glanced up at these red tulips on the table next to me.
In that split second, I saw something so beautiful and obvious in these tulips – something I’d overlooked a thousand times…
(I usually select the “picture perfect” tulips. The red ones that stand tall, perfectly straight, and seem to call my attention. There were none of those tulips to choose from last night. So I selected these. The last bunch.)
This morning I saw them completely differently. And this is how:
- The irregularities (or “the imperfections”) of these bowing bright green stems make them truly special.
- The bows and arches signify Grace. Strength. Resolve.
- They bend but do not give up, demonstrating a willingness to stand up, on their own terms, and to hold an especially beautiful stance which can sometimes be far more interesting than the linear standard.
What does this mean for you?
I wish these principles for you today, even if Monday gets hectic, hurried and heavy.
Imperfections and bows in the norm do make life so special, don’t they?
And, as we interact with others who are also imperfect and bending under the weight of demands and pace, I hope we see those people in new and positive ways too.
